IN MEMORY OF KATIE MATHES
KATIE MAE MATHES Katie was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Thomas Clure and Leona (Riddle) Bailey and died Thursday August 15, 2024, in Ardmore, Oklahoma Katie graduated from Mannsville High School in Mannsville, Oklahoma and after attending Southwestern Junior College and LaSalle University, she has spent 65 years as a Public Accountant. During her professional career she received many accolades but was proud to have held lifetime memberships in the Oklahoma Society of Public Accountants and the National Society of Public Accountants. One of her proudest moments was while attending the 43rd Annual Convention of the National Society of Public Accountants in Las Vegas, Nevada she was elected the 42nd President, the first woman to achieve that high office in the Society’s 43-year history. In setting the theme for her administration, she pledged her commitment to a high standard of professionalism, achievement, and excellence for the betterment of all of the NSPA members. Another honor she was proud of was in November-December issue she was recognized by the Working Women magazine as one of the 350 Women Who Changed the World from 1976 1996. Katie is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Wallace Bailey; sister, Helen Keeling; niece, Karen Keeling and a bonus daughter, Barbara Stubbs. She is survived by her daughter, Sheree Mathes and her husband Clayton Allison of Ardmore, Oklahoma; son, Les Mathes of Hagerman, Texas; Foster Daughter, Jean Crump of Dallas, Texas; nephews, Paul David Bailey and his wife Valerie of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Shannon Saxon and his wife Becky of Mannsville, Oklahoma; Special friends, Elva Jackson, Karron Allen, Jodie Douglass-Austin and Judy Butts. The family would like to thank the staff of Good Shepherd Hospice for their compassionate and loving care. Special Thanks to Tricia, JR, Jennifer, Carrie, Michelle, Edith, and Shaylee.
